An Affair To Remember!

A classic, dim lights, Chinese food : perfect Sunday night. For long I have been planning to see this wonderful classic. So I began the perfect date in solitude, beautiful dialogues exchanged between perfectly adorned man and the lady garnished with old english music. But mid-way through the movie something terrible happened. As the leading man in the movie decided that he will no more live on his ancestral money and will take up painting so as to be able enough to ask his love to marry him, a startling reality struck me! I had seen this before. And just like that our very own Bollywood ruined my experience of watching a classic. I realized that Bollywood just last decade had gathered guts enough to release a movie which was an exact copy of An Affair To Remember with desi tadka added! As goes for all such ‘inspired’ Bollywood flicks, it was a disaster only as big as the original’s popularity. I can truly appreciate this original but will never be able to enjoy it in it’s or...

Be Selfish!

Being rational is the only way I have been half way past my college. Having raised a single child I had been always too gullible just to get into the good books of people around me. But during college some wonderful people came across in my life and they taught me through experience that ‘I’ comes first! As a kid, had visited the holy place of Rishikesh with my family. We specifically went to the Divine Life Society Ashram. A religious organization my grandmother was a follower of. As we entered there, in the main hall above the sanctum sanctorum was a huge blue board with the words, ‘BE GOOD, DO GOOD’. The philosophy propagated by the founder Swami Sivananda Saraswati. My father pointed towards it and exclaimed; “Isn’t that a beautiful thought!”. And I nodded. Not sure if i really understood it at the moment but the vision of that hall and the board has stayed with me for life. Years after this when today I picked up my phone to seek help from my friend for a fight betwe...

The comic 'strip'.

After 24 hours of deactivating my facebook account. I was sitting with my laptop thinking I am not the only one in my generation who is not on FB. So what do other people who are not on FB think about FB. And I happen to come across some pretty interesting blogs. But the best were the comic strips. And this one I HAD to share... Laughed hard on its subtle sattire... Makes me laugh each and every time without fail.

2012

I have been lazy in the year 2011 from the perspective of my Blogger profile. I don't intend to carry it this year. I truly missed writing but now I am back with my thought procedures back in place! ;) People believe that whatever you do on the first day of the year, is most likely the forecast for the complete year. I began this year in a very unconventional way. This year I actually went for a New Year bash. My first new year party. It was interesting.. and it also reaffirmed my repulsion to such social parties. Any given day I would rather party with my finite set of friends and say cheers to the spirit of friendship which is pretty much the driving force for me in any year. Huge crowd, noisy music and unlimited alcohol - it is more of a setup to elude from reality. Why would anyone choose to get up with a hangover on the first day of the year?? Forecast of an unlimited supply of alcohol for them throughout the year? Seems reality check is some serious business people need to lo...
