After watching the movie; I could not stop my urge to write about it.
Why? Simply, because I loved it. Not only on the EQ level but the whole package.
Yes I am talking about ‘Ek Deewana Tha’! First of all the story and its presentation was beautiful. If it won’t have been this movie would not have been remade by the director in Hindi after already being successful at it in Tamil and Telugu version.
The USP of the movie through out was Prateik Babbar without a doubt. His monologues were the high points of the movie. My favourite monologue was:
when after getting no reaction on the name of Mohan Lal from Jessie (the love interest of Prateik’s character played by Amy Jackson); he thinks; “Baap ko Bachhan nahi pata, beti ko Mohan Lal; kya karun yaar mai inka!”
Another one is when Jessie is walking up to him and he thinks: “Meri shakal pe 12 baje hue hai aur ye fresh good morning wo bhi 6am jaisi. Kuch zyada hi sundar nahi hai ye?”
Then there is another scene where in Prateik and his senior from work go to Allepy; (when Prateik can’t do away a minute without seeing his lady love) and they are invited by Jessie’s family for lunch. Now there is a whole mix of malayalam and hindi dialogues; a scene very well directed! One of Jessie’s relative keeps on saying: “Eat Eat” in malayalam and Prateik’s ally keeps on interepreting it in hindi and replies; “Aap bhi khencho khencho”!!!
Apart from dialogues; the cinematography was the second high point! From amchi mumbai to the beautiful Allepy; it was all presented so well.
Having said that; there were two lows of the movie:
First, Amy Jackson: Yes; she looks oh so pretty in Saree. But that is it. The dubbing made it worse.
Second, The title: In my opinion I do not find it befitting.
And hence my blog title is the most beautiful part of the movie: the song hosanna.
The mad-in-love dance of Prateik on this song is so fun to watch; the music refreshingly soothing.
